Running is one of the best ways to get to know a new location.
But what to do if you don’t know even where to start?
I have put together a running tour of Tallinn that takes you many important landmarks and scenic locations.
Start and finish
We will start and finish in a location where you can park your car for free or moderate fee, and there would be a convenient place to wash up later. There is a spa around the corner where you can enjoy the sauna, swim, and wash up after the run.
But it’s up to you. You can go back to where you stay and wash up there.
Time
The time for shorter tours is an hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. For longer tours, the time ranges from 2 to 2 and a half hours. At that time and at a moderate pace, we can cover all the locations of the tour.
Pace
Usually, we run with a pace of 6 to 6:30 minutes per kilometer (9:40 to 10:30 per mile). We have many stops during the running tour in Tallinn. The stops will allow us to run a bit faster and recover during the breaks when you can take pictures and selfies.
During the booking, we’ll ask you for your preferred running pace.
If your comfortable pace is below 7 minutes per kilometer (11 minutes per mile), then contact us directly, and we may be able to put together a running tour that covers as many locations as possible in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Warmup
As different people have various warmup routines, then please make sure that you are ready to run when we have an official starting time. There are places you can use for warming up around our starting location.
Weather and clothing
We run in all conditions. In some cases, we may have -25 degrees Celsius. If that’s the case, we run. Sometimes we may have 32-degree heat. No problem, we run.
Select your clothing according to the weather and our preferences.
Hydration is important. In most conditions, it’s OK to drink just a large glass of water before you come to the running tour. If you think that you may need more water, then bring your bottle with water.
With heavy rain or snow and strong wind, there may be conditions that would make the running tour very uncomfortable. In those situations, we monitor the weather and let you know an hour before the start of the tour if the run is on.
Taxi and public transportation
If you need to finish the tour early, then you can take the taxi to your accommodation. In Tallinn Uber works, and in most cases, the rides are priced below 10 euros. For the more adventurous runners, public transportation is an option that works quite well in Tallinn. Bring money or a credit card to make sure you have a backup plan.
